Stained Glass repair service
Depending on the condition of your stained glass window, Coastal Art Glass can do repairs to your window on site. In some cases, in older homes, the lead becomes corroded and the window should be removed and re-leaded in our studio.
On Site repair
If the damage to your window is relatively minor, we can usually remove and replace the broken piece (s) within one to two hours. To schedule an appointment for an estimate, call 781-340-0314.
Shop Repair \ Restoration
After a Stained Glass window reaches the age of between 80 to 100 years, the lead can become corroded and the cement which seals the glass falls out. This usually causes the window to buckle and crack. The lead is the "skeleton" of your window and in this case should be re-leaded.
This requires the window to be removed and restored in our studio. The restoration process includes removal of the window and installing a temporary covering. The window is brought to our studio and is photographed, measured and the design is traced on to a new template. The next step is to match the broken pieces with new glass and then disassembly and reconstruction begins. After your window is reconstructed, the window is cleaned and cemented.
This end product of this process is your antique window restored to its' original beauty and quality.
